Troop 476 – Middletown Maryland
Is a co-ed Scouts BSA program that has served the Middletown Valley for over 75 years. Our troop is traditional in our adherence to the Scout Oath and Law, the goal of equipping young men and women to be Reverent, good citizens, community leaders, and conservators of our environment. In addition to our traditional scout skills and outdoor program, Troop 476 also has a strong Science, Engineering, and Technology background. Most of our Scouts attend Middletown High School, hence the Knight symbolism.
Scouting is usually less expensive than competitive youth sports and for some youth is a better fit. Scouting is not competitive, but a collaborative effort where each scout helps the others achieve their best in a supportive environment.
Meetings and Current Events
The troop meets on Sunday at 7:30 PM either at the Frederick County FOP Lodge, 2 Walnut Street, Middletown, MD, or in favorable weather (May through August) at the Middletown Memorial Park on South Church Street. You are welcome to stop by an observe a meeting and get to know the scouts and adult leaders.

Girls in the Boy Scouts
Girls have participated in BSA programs such as Venturing and Sea Scouts for over 40 years. A few years ago, the BSA opened all programs to girls in response to families’ requests for one scouting program for the whole family and for their daughters to have the same scouting opportunities as their sons including the internationally recognized Eagle rank. From that the family scouting model was born. Not all troops have girls in their programs, but we are proud to say we do. Our girls operated as a separate patrol within the troop structure. The troop always practices “two deep leadership” and other safe scouting practices. Adult females with a love of the outdoors and an interest in seeing youth develop into good citizens are welcome to stop by a troop meeting and learn more about our program.
